Solving Problems With a Business Impact

Even when I was little, I have always loved puzzles and I have always felt deeply fulfilled by learning new things. As I have grown up and begun my time at the Ross School of Business, I have been able to fulfill that same sense of curiosity and drive to learn through business and the constant problem solving that it requires. Feeling a sense of growth is a necessity to me. I am happiest when I feel that I am growing and learning. With these traits in mind, I feel that working in business in a strategic, problem-focused capacity will allow me to capitalize who I am and become the best individual and professional I can become.

Data Driven Business

After being exposed to data in an into to information programming class last semester, I have been been really excited about learning new ways to process, understand, communicate, and predict findings based on data. To me, data represents a way to uncover reality. In business and in politics, people act emotionally. Data, analysis, and statistics give us a way to see past ourselves and seek genuine understanding of the world around us, an idea I am genuinely excited about. After declaring an applied stats minor, I am really excited to be spending more class time becoming a better analyst and data scientist. This semester, I am most excited about TO 414, a Ross Elective on predictive analytics and machine learning in R, a statistical programming language.

Software

Software will continue to have an incredible impact on who we are and how we do business, and I want to be a part of it. After learning how to program in Python last year, I have been absolutely fascinated by software, its creation, and how it's constructed. After learning python last winter, I have taught myself HTML, SCSS, CSS, R, and JavaScript. With these skills, I created the website you're reading now from scratch in addition to a few other projects. I am most drawn to software that contributes functional value, like Salesforce, SAP, and other enterprise-focused innovations.
